On Wednesday evening, with no rain and +8 C temperature, it was a very pleasant evening for a walk as René, Brenda, Glenn, RA Edie, Kevin and Larry walked our usual winter route along Beaverbrook, Eastlake to Underhill, up Underhill to Broadway and returned the same way.
Distance was 5.5 km and time 1h10.
Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and happy holidays and let’s hope the weather isn’t too bad over the next few days. Stay safe everyone!

René, Brenda, Glenn, RA Edie, Alex, Kevin and Larry enjoyed a nice evening weather-wise on Monday night. With a bit of a chill in the air (-1 C) we walked along Beaverbrook, Eastlake to Underhill, up Underhill to Broadway and returned the same way. Edie wore red Christmas lights to help liven things up.
Distance 5.5 km and time 1h03, a bit faster due to the colder temperature, or maybe we just felt so good to be out there !?
From Jennel: Jennel took her two dogs up the Coquitlam Crunch Tuesday morning, her distance at least 4 km. There was snow at the top!

On Saturday morning it was dark and rainy and if you can believe it, five of us showed up at Cameron Centre without hip waders, ha ha. Nevertheless, Alex, Larry, RA Edie, Flora and René walked along the Stoney Creek trail alongside the roaring creek – the volume and velocity of water that has rarely been seen. We started out by walking up Cameron past the library then turned back into the park and walked along the park’s paved trail down to Beaverbrook and into the Creek trail and walked along the trail to North Road. We then turned back, while Flora jogged up North Road to Chapman and jogged back.
Time was 1 hour, distance 4.5 km, about 5.5 km for Flora, and our brollies got a good workout too.
From Jennel: She waited for much better weather this afternoon, taking her two dogs up the Coquitlam Crunch!

On Wednesday evening, Brenda, Glenn, Alex and Larry walked along Beaverbrook, Eastlake to Underhill and returned, distance 4.8 km and time 1h03. It was not raining or snowing so it was a good evening to be out.
From Jennel: On Tuesday it snowed in parts of Coquitlam and Jennel’s area got quite a bit. She walked 5 km in the morning with her dogs, then in the afternoon she and the dogs walked another 1 km. Good workout!

On Monday evening, Alex, RA Edie, Glenn, Brenda and Larry braved the drizzle and walked along Beaverbrook, Eastlake to Underhill, then up Underhill to Broadway, and returned the same way, with several Santa hats in attendance.
Our distance was 5.5 km and time was 1h22.
The tree lights around the library entrance to Cameron Centre sure help to brighten things up!

On Saturday morning, Flora, RA Edie, René and Larry were treated to some unexpected sunshine on our journey! It started out as cloudy with a hint of drizzle but that went away as we started out from the Squint Lake parking lot, went along some of the trails near the Burnaby Mountain Golf Course to the paved walkway along Greystone, crossed Duthie Ave., and continued along the urban paved trail to Hastings St., crossed Duncan Ave. and went onwards to Burnaby North Secondary School and Kensington Rink, then returned along Curtis St. to Kensington and back along the same route. Flora and René did a bit of jogging along the way.
Distance 8 km, time 1h40.

On Wednesday evening, it was enjoyable walking around Lafarge Lake and seeing all the lights! We were lucky that it didn’t rain, and because of that the place was quite busy but there was a festive feeling in the air. And it was great to see some folks we haven’t seen for awhile – Jennel and her family – husband Tony and daughters Anamaria and Sophia; and Heather of the “Coquitlam Cruisers”, plus Rod and Pat, and Eoin and Laura and a friend of theirs! Larry, RA Edie and Brenda and Glenn also attended, so it was a good turnout.
We walked two laps around the lake, the distance I don’t know, perhaps 4 km or so. Thanks very much to Edie for suggesting the outing!

On Monday evening, RA Edie, René, Larry, Alex, Kevin, Glenn and Brenda walked along Beaverbrook, Eastlake to Underhill, up Underhill and along Forest Grove, crossed the Gaglardi overpass and back to the Centre. No rain or snow during our walk, and it was actually a nice evening to be out and active.
Distance 6.8 km, time 1h28.

Saturday morning saw a few snowflakes falling as RA Edie, Kevin, René, Flora and Larry met at the Centre, but the snow didn’t stick and it was actually not too bad out there as the group walked along Joe’s trail. We did not see that many other walkers/runners/cyclists along the way, probably due to the +1 C temperature.
Distance was 8 km and time was 1h42.
Alex and Angela volunteered at the Gunner Shaw run at Jericho Park.

December 02
On Wednesday evening, the rain was steady, but our brollies matched the challenge, as RA Edie, Kevin, Brenda, Glenn, René and Larry walked along Beaverbrook, Eastlake, Underhill, Forest Grove Drive, across the Gaglardi overpass and back to the Centre. It was the opposite direction of what we did on Monday night, trading the Forest Grove hill for the Underhill one – there is some opinion that Underhill is the steeper hill, but of course both hills are our friends, ha ha.
Distance 6.8 km, time 1h28. Starting to see Christmas lights out there – including Glenn and Brenda’s!
From Jennel: Jennel & Heather met up today and walked, and walked, and walked! We met at Town Centre, then walked to do some shopping for Christmas, from one end of Coquitlam to the other! We had a few bags on our return (so it was a good all body workout carrying the bags)
Jennel ended up walking 15 km!!! (a little less for Heather). Had some coffee, but kept walking…. Didn’t make it back home until 1:30ish!! Was a great day, weather wise & good company!
