On Wednesday evening Brenda, Glenn, Kevin, Edie, Liane, René, Nikita and Larry walked from Cameron Centre along Beaverbrook, Gaglardi overpass, turned left on Forest Grove Drive and went up the trail that runs parallel to the road, then up through the townhouses in the area to upper Forest Grove, crossed the street and up to the trail that runs behind Forest Grove Elementary school and back down to Forest Grove just past Ash Grove Crescent, then down the stairs, crossed the overpass again, and back to the Centre. Very nice warm evening. Distance 5.8 km and time 1h17.

On Monday evening Brenda, Glenn, Kevin, Edie, Liane, and Larry walked, and Flora jogged, from Cameron Centre along the Stoney Creek trail, up the mountain trail to the gravel road that leads to the powerline trail, while Flora jogged up North Road, then the group reunited and went down the Jim’s Jungle trail which led to the wood boardwalk trail that runs parallel to the Stoney Creek trail, then went back onto the Stoney Creek trail and back to Cameron Centre, all the while enjoying the sunshine and slightly warmer temperature. The warmer temperature brought out the mosquitoes to greet us as we finished our walk/run – we couldn’t believe they were out so early in the year! Distance 5.7 km and time 1h25.
From Jennel: Last Wednesday Jennel ran 12.85 km “all over Coquitlam!”. Then on Monday Jennel and Heather ran 12 km. Getting ready for the BMO!
From Alex: On Sunday Alex ran 18.17 km on a route that went from Burnaby into New Westminster and Coquitlam, then back to Burnaby in the Lougheed Mall area, where he took the Skytrain home. He’s looking to do the BMO too!
From Ivan: On Saturday morning Ivan restarted jogging by doing a 5.5 km route from the Richmond Oval following the trail path westbound in an out-and-back fashion. Total time 41m. He’s looking to work his way up to doing a half-marathon later in the year.
Thanks to Kevin for keeping the Cruiser communications going while I was away!

On Saturday morning Rene, Liane, Edie and I showed up on a cool spring morning.
The group decided to walk Joe’s trail. So we headed down Bartlett to the Lougheed pedestrian underpass toward Keswick Park. Crossed Government and took the trail that takes you to HanNam Grocery Store. Down North Road to Joe’s trail. When we arrived at Cariboo, Liane wanted to continue on the Burnaby Lake trail. At Piper Spit we checked out the birds. We then headed up Piper Spit Road and timed it perfectly so we just missed the end of the passing train. Continued up to the path and weaved through the neighbourhood and ended up at Brighton. Crossed over Lougheed to Production and turned at Eastlake. Turned on Beaverbrook and back to Cameron.
We did a whopping 11.2 km in 2 hrs 15 min. We had a few showers but everyone enjoyed seeing the spring blossoms and flowers.

On Wednesday night we had a good turn out. Rene, Liane, Nikita, Glenn, Brenda, Edie & Flora showed up for a nice spring evening. Even though Liane had reported rain on her drive over to Cameron it was a dry. They group was leaderless, which resulted in a very unusual route.
We started out enjoying the cherry blossoms in Cameron Park and headed down a muddy Stoney Creek trail. When we got to North Road we walked by Chapman and took the path into Glenair neighbourhood. After that I can’t tell you the twists and turns we took until we got back onto Smith Ave. From there we did our regular route down Clark to Lyndhurst. Lucy the cat greeted us on Willoughby and continued down the path to Morrey back to Cameron.
Hopefully someone will share the stats and route from their fitness tracker.
On request from Flora you may notice I didn’t bcc [everyone when I sent the email]. I can’t wait to read Flora’s report next time. 😀

On Monday evening Brenda, Glenn, Kevin, Nikita and Larry walked from Cameron Centre along Beaverbrook, Gaglardi overpass, up the Forest Grove hill and beyond, down Underhill, Eastlake and back to the Centre. Our walk started out in the rain but the monsoon earlier in the afternoon had just ended, and the rain gradually stopped, and by the time we were at Eastlake and Beaverbrook there were large pockets of blue sky which was unexpected. Distance 7.2 km and time 1h28.
From Jennel: On Monday morning Heather and Jennel ran 18 km mostly in Poco area out to Costco to the dyke and back, familiar stomping grounds for them. They seemed to have missed the rain, very fortunate!
Speaking of the rain, on Sunday morning Alex ran the 10 km Sun Run in what was mostly a heavy downfall, in a time of 1h13:48. An outstanding result, what an inspiration!
Congratulations Alex!

On Saturday morning Glenn, Brenda, Edie, René, Kevin, Flora and Larry braved the rain and walked down Erickson and under the Lougheed underpass to Manchester and took the sidewalk trail through to North Road, passing the carving area where a table, two benches and a chair were carved by a Mexican carver that Kevin has met. We continued along North Road to Joe’s trail and took that trail to Cariboo, Government St., Brighton (we didn’t stop in at Costco!), Production Way, Eastlake, Beaverbrook and back to Cameron Centre. Flora ran the route and added on to it by going to Hume Park, two loops around via Larry’s hill, then along Joe’s trail and the same route back as the walkers, her distance 10 km and time 1h43. On Saturday morning Kevin, Edie and Larry walked from the Squint Lake parking lot along Greystone, crossed Duthie, took the urban trail along to Sherlock and Curtis, continued along the paved trail to Hastings St. then cut through Westridge elementary school, crossed Grove and walked through Kensington Shopping Plaza to Kensington Ave. and Burnaby North High School, where we observed Kensington pool open (it’s an outdoor pool) and being used for swimming lessons (perhaps because CG Brown pool is now closed), then we continued along Kensington Ave. southward to Halifax and onwards to Phillips and back to Squint Lake.
