On Saturday morning, it was sunny but cold and frosty as Kevin, Larry, Liane, Edie and Flora walked at Rocky Point, going along the trail and on Alderside to Ioco Road and returning the same way. Frost/ice coating everywhere until about 9 a.m. then walking surfaces thawed out on the way back. Flora jogged most of the way and Larry did some jogging too. Beautiful sunshine and scenery (see photos taken by Flora below – thanks Flora and Ivan!).
Our distance was 10 km and our time was just under 2 hours. Hot chocolate, coffee and/or ice cream enjoyed by all after the walk!

On Wednesday evening it was another clear, rainless evening so our luck continues, as Kevin, Nikita, Liane, Brenda, Glenn, Edie, Flora, and Larry walked along Beaverbrook, Eastlake to Underhill, and back the same way.
Our distance was 4.5 km and time was 1h05. Another running group passed us during our walk, about 30 runners [Ivan: likely the North Burnaby Runners Club – NBR], good to see people out there!

On Monday evening the Cruisers’ luck continued with no rain although it was cooler in temperature, as Liane, Kevin, Glenn, Brenda, Edie, and Larry walked the “full” Forest Grove route via Beaverbrook, Gaglardi overpass, Forest Grove Drive hill and along to Underhill, down to Eastlake, Beaverbrook and back to the Centre.
Our distance was 7 km and our time was 90 minutes, with speedsters Liane and Brenda finishing at least 10 minutes earlier.

On Saturday morning René, Liane, Larry, Flora and Edie met at Edie’s home and walked around the Coquitlam area along Grover, Regan, Como Lake Park, Poirier, to Hillcrest and the trails of Mundy Park, and back along same streets and a bunch of other ones – we wandered here and there – and returned to Edie’s for coffee and snacks. We also saw Ross, who attended Edie’s after our walk. lt was a bit foggy at first but it was not raining so it was pleasant for walking.
Our distance was 10 km and our time was about 2 hours. Thanks very much to Edie for hosting us!

On Wednesday evening the Cruisers’ luck with the weather continued, amazingly considering the heavy rain both before and after our walk. It mostly drizzled as Kevin, Flora, Glenn, Brenda, and Larry walked on Beaverbrook to Eastlake, up Underhill, along Forest Grove Drive and down again to Beaverbrook and back to the Centre. Our distance was 7 km and our time was 1h30.

On Monday evening the Cruisers were lucky again as the rain subsided for our walk. Liane, Kevin, Nikita, René, Flora, Glenn, Brenda, and Larry walked from Cameron Centre to Beaverbrook, crossed the Gaglardi overpass, southward on Forest Grove Drive, crossed at Broadway to Production Way and went down to Eastlake, Beaverbrook and returned to the Centre.
Our distance was 4.4 km and our time was 58 minutes.
Also on Monday evening Laura and Eoin walked from Cameron Library up to Production Way and back. Saw a lovely setting sun. Picked up a nice curry chicken on the way home.
Distance 4.12 km, time 35 min. Regards to all

On Saturday morning Flora, Edie, Liane, Kevin, and Larry met at Cameron Centre and walked down Cameron through the overpass to the trail that goes from Eastlake to Government St., along Cariboo Rd. to Joe’s trail, where we looked for chum salmon that had been spotted earlier in the week by friends of Edie, but we didn’t see any, and noticed how low the water levels were in the streams and Brunette river that runs alongside Joe’s trail. We continued up North Road, went through the Koreatown shopping plaza, checked on a bakery that Flora wanted to shop at but it was still closed, to a sidewalk that runs behind the apartment and townhouse complexes on Manchester Drive, then onto the sidewalk by Cardston Court and Lougheed Hwy underpass, Bartlett Court and back to Cameron Centre.
We finished just as it was starting to spit rain so good timing by us! Distance about 7.5 km and time about 1h35.
From Jennel: On Wednesday Jennel walk-jogged, taking many breaks along the way, 12.75 km. Her knee is still not ready for running so she’ll take another break. Best of luck with your recovery Jennel!

On Wednesday evening the Cruisers met at the Squint Lake parking lot just by the Burnaby Mountain Golf Course. Edie, Flora, Nikita, Liane, René, and Larry observed the busy pickleball courts and baseball fields as we started out on the golf course trails running alongside Greystone/Arden, the street that changes its name for an unknown reason along the golf course, then we followed the trail as it went up to meet the paved walking/cycling trail on Arden, then down to Broadway to Underhill, where we turned back and followed the somewhat new paved trail that runs along Broadway to Duthie, then up Duthie to Montecito. The group dropped Larry off and continued back to Squint Lake.
Distance was just over 5 km and time was 1h15 approximately. The route was a good one, well lit. We’ll do it again sometime.

On Monday morning it was a drizzly day for a walk as Len, Miriam, with Jax, Flora, Edie, René, Liane, and Larry walked from Christine Sinclair Centre parking lot to the Burnaby Lake trails, taking the trail eastward to Piper Spit, where Len, Miriam and Jax turned back to the Centre, their distance approximately 7 km. Flora jogged a route back to the Centre, her distance also about 7 km. The rest of the group continued around the lake trails, distance approximately 11 km, with speedsters René and Liane’s time 2h09, Larry and Edie’s time 2h20.
Flora, Edie, Liane, René and Larry met back at Bastion’s in the Centre, enjoying coffee and snacks.

From Kevin: On Saturday afternoon Glenn, Brenda and I met at Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica parking lot in Ottawa at 12:30 pm EST (9:30 am PST). We then drove to Rideau Hall and walked the grounds and did a 45 minute tour of the residence. We then drove to Pink Lake in Gatineau Park in Quebec. Did a walk around the lake to enjoy the fall colours. It was a drizzly fall day but we had a good time chatting about our recent travels. Distance was 4.3 km in two provinces. 😀 See photos below.

On Saturday morning, Liane, Edie, Flora, René, and Larry met at Rocky Point and did our usual route along the trail parallel to the inlet, then onto Alderson to Ioco Road, and returned the same way. Flora and René jogged most of the route and bobturned a couple of times before getting to the ice cream shop with fast walker Liane, ahead of the other walkers. We enjoyed the ice cream of course and the awesome sunny weather. A little less busy at the Point now that it’s fall.
Our distance was 10 km, slightly more for the joggers, and our time was about 2 hours.

On Wednesday evening no Cruisers walked or ran as a group – one of those rare times!
There were valid reasons reported ha ha.

On Monday morning Miriam, Flora, Edie, Brenda, Glenn, and Larry met at Christine Sinclair Centre and walked over to Deer Lake and walked around the lake trails. It wasn’t very busy there due to the rainfall but we were prepared with rain gear and our brollies. The leaves are starting to turn various shades of yellow and a bit of red – should be a great fall with all the colours.
Our distance was about 7 km and our time was about 1h30. Afterwards we had coffee at Bastions inside the Sinclair Centre and the conversation was quite enjoyable.
On Sunday, Jennel and Heather walked the CIBC Run/Walk for the Cancer Cure. I think it is a 5 km course. Good on ya girls!

Distance 8 km and time 1h45. It was a bit chilly at the start but once the sun rose it warmed up nicely.
