On Saturday morning René, Edie, Larry, Kevin, Nikita, and Alex met at Rocky Point and walked along the lower trail to Murray St., then the upper trail, which was newly paved, then Alderside to Ioco Road, and returned mostly along the lower trail from Old Orchard Park beach onwards.
Distance was 10 km, time was 2h25. It did rain, however, but we soldiered on with rain gear and brollies. Afterwards, ice cream was enjoyed by all.
From Flora: Also on Saturday morning, Flora and Rachel ran 10.32 km in 59 minutes at Burnaby Lake, while Flora’s Birch Bay running cohort Angela ran 10 km, completing the last week of the Fit First running clinic. Great job Flora and Rachel for doing the training!

On Wednesday evening, despite raining steadily all afternoon, the rain of course stopped for the Cruisers as Liane, Glenn, Kevin, Flora, Edie, Larry, Laura and Eoin with Lucky, walked the Stoney Creek trail to North Road and returned the same way, while Flora and Liane continued up North Road to Chapman before returning, rejoining the group on the trail as they walked fast.
Everyone’s walk time was 55 minutes, distance was 4 km, distance for Flora and Liane was 5 km.

On Monday evening Kevin, Larry, Nikita, Brenda, Flora, René, Eoin, Laura with Lucky walked along Stoney Creek trail to North Road, where Nikita, René and Flora continued up North Road to Chapman, and the rest of the group continued back along the trail. Distance for the group was 4 km, and for René, Nikita and Flora was 5 km.
Our walk time was 53 minutes. It was a beautiful sunny evening.
Sunday’s Sun Run times: Alex 1:13:48, Sherian 1:16:09.

On Saturday morning, Liane, Larry, Kevin, and René met at Cameron Centre and walked down Bartlett Court, the underpass under the Lougheed Highway, by Keswick Park, then the trail and sidewalk behind Manchester, down North Road, and walked along Joe’s trail to Cariboo, Government St., the trail that leads from Government to Eastlake, and up Cameron back to the Centre.
Our distance was 7.2 km, 7.5 km for Liane and René who walked fast and bobturned to stay with the group. It was a gorgeous sunny morning, unexpected but enjoyed!
On Sunday morning, the Vancouver Sun Run had fantastic weather. Alex ran, his time was 1:13:48. Congratulations Alex! (No time found for Sherian in the results.)

On Wednesday it was a very pleasant sunny evening as René, Larry, Liane, Kevin, Flora, Sandy, Laura and Eoin walked along Beaverbrook, crossed the Gaglardi overpass and went up the Forest Grove big hill and continued on Forest Grove to Underhill, then Eastlake and back to Cameron Centre in a time of 90 minutes.
The group’s distance was 7 km, and for Liane and René it was 7.4 km as they walked fast and did bobturns to keep with the group.
For those of you who know Sherian, she says hi to all the Cruisers and she plans to jog-walk the Sun Run on Sunday.

On Monday night there was a super turnout, as 11 Cruisers attended on a cloudy but pleasant evening (meaning that it didn’t rain!). Eoin, Laura (with Lucky), Sandy, Liane, Kevin, Edie, Flora, Glenn, Brenda, René, and Larry, walked on the Stoney Creek trail to North Road, where René and Brenda continued up to Chapman, and Larry and Sandy went up to Gilroy Ave., then the group all returned along the trail to Cameron Centre.
The distance for most of the group was 4 km, for Larry and Sandy 4.5 km, and for René and Brenda 5 km, and walk times ranged from 45 to 50 minutes.
From Alex: On Monday afternoon, Alex ran a route in the Marlborough area, Maitland and Dover streets, 6.18 km in a time of 58 minutes.

On Saturday morning, Larry, Kevin, Nikita, Edie, and Sandy met at Rocky Point and walked our usual route as much as possible along the lower trail, along Murray St. briefly. then along a gravel trail that runs parallel to the railroad tracks, as part of the main trail was closed as it was being paved, then back along the lower trail and Old Orchard Beach, and continued on Alderside to Ioco Road, then returned the same way back. It was a beautiful sunny morning and it just got better as the fog lifted from the inlet.
Our distance was 10 km. Edie and Sandy’s time was about 2 hours, and Kevin, Nikita, and Larry’s time was about 2h15. Of course we enjoyed ice cream afterwards!
From Flora: Flora and her friend Angela drove across the line to Birch Bay on Saturday morning and ran the Birch Bay Road Race. It was a good non hilly course, some short hills though but overall a nice course. 15 km distance. Flora’s time was 2h11. Her first 12 km pace was between 6.27 and 6.90 minutes per km but slowed to an 8.44 pace the last 3 km due to some calf soreness. A tasty lunch was enjoyed after. Congratulations Flora and Angela!

On Wednesday evening Edie, Flora, René, Kevin, Brenda, Glenn, Nikita, and Larry walked the Stoney Creek trail to North Road. René and Brenda went up to Chapman, Kevin, Nikita, Edie, and Larry walked up to Gilby, then walked back on Rathburn which led back to Stoney Creek trail, where they were joined by all in the group again, and the group proceeded back to Cameron Centre, time between 45 and 50 minutes.
René and Brenda’s distance was 5 km, Kevin, Nikita, Edie, and Larry’s distance was 4.5 km, and Flora and Glenn’s distance was 4 km. It was a nice evening – no rain.

On Saturday morning Len, Miriam, with Jax, Edie, René, and Larry met at Christine Sinclair Centre and walked over to Deer Lake and walked around the lake trails. It was sunny most of the way and it was not too crowded on the trail, probably because of the forecasted rain which didn’t happen until the afternoon.
We walked about 6.5 km and our time was about 1h40. After our walk we had coffee at Bastion’s in the Centre with Flora and her friend Angela from the Fit First running clinic.
From Flora: Flora ran 9.15 km around Kensington Ave., Burnaby Lake trails, Sperling Ave., Roberts St., and Southshore Trail, her time 1h17.
From Alex: Also on Saturday morning, Alex ran the Park Run at Central Park, 5 km Park Run in 41m04, and 2 km recovery run, total distance 7.13 km and total time 1h01, He enjoyed the good weather, warm and dry.
From Jennel: On Thursday, Jennel and Heather ran 10 km, not sprinting, two laps of Town Centre stadium.
Also, Jennel’s walking her dogs and strengthening her knee a few times a day. Best of luck with the workouts Jennel!

On Wednesday evening Edie, Liane, Kevin, Brenda, Glenn, Flora, René, Eoin, Laura (with Lucky), and Larry walked along the Stoney Creek trail to North Road and returned.
Our distance was 4 km and our time was about 1h. Brenda and Liane did back and forth repeats so their distance was closer to 5 km. Flora and René walked up North Road to Chapman before returning, their distance also being 5 km.

On Monday evening Edie, Liane, Kevin, Sandy, and Larry walked along the Stoney Creek trail, Jim’s Jungle trail, the less hilly trail up to Burnaby Mountain, then down North Road to Stoney Creek trail and back to the Centre.
Our distance was about 7 km and our time was about 1h20. It was a very nice sunny evening!
