The passing of the Faller’s Trophy once again – this time from Laura to Larry, who didn’t spring up quite fast enough not to qualify for this esteemed prize. What joy from the other Cruisers that they weren’t the recipients.
February 2nd: Under drizzly skies on Monday evening RA Edie with canine April, Alex and Bobtoc walked west from the Centre on Eastlake to Underhill; Edie and Bobtoc opted to return, their time and distance about an hour, 4.6 km. Alex elected to continue and commenced running, continuing to Shellmont, east to return to the Centre via Forest Grove Drive etal. His time and distance, 1:15, 7.8 km
February 4th: Again under drizzly skies , and 5oC temperature, eight turned out for a walk or run. Flora and Rachel elected to walk, their route being Eastlake to Underhill to Forest Grove Drive, east on the Drive through to the overpass, the Beaverbrooks back to the Centre, their time 1:18, distance 6.4 km. Runners split into two groups; the first being Larry, Laura, Libby ( love the alliteration) and Terri-Lee, and the second group being Alex and Bobtoc, his first run per se since home from Maui, and glad of Alex’s supervision, who travelled more than the 7.3 km clocked by the other runners. The route for the runners was the Forest Grove Drive backwards, distance 7.3 km for both groups, times 57 minutes and 1:18 respectively.
February 5th: Thought you’d like the attached pic of two more “Swabbies” I met yesterday. Trip going well. Thailand very good. Glad we came.
Going to yet another elephant place tomorrow, where we hope to walk elephants.
Headed south on Saturday to the beach for 10 days (tired of looking at temples)
Will keep in touch. Hope your weather isn’t too bad.
Rod and Pat
Hi all, went for a walk with elephants yesterday. Pic 1 shows Pat and I with our elephant “Swabbie”.
Pic 2 shows the “little Swabbie” that decided we had lots of bananas so joined us too. Walked with these guys for 3 hours. Amazing animals, so gentle yet so smart.
Moved today down to Koh Lanta in the south for beach time.
As Larry says “taking one for the team”
Take care Rod and Pat
February 9th: And we thought WE were swabbies! See these two photos in living colour ofRod and Pat a long, long way from the good ship H.M.S. Lollypop. Any rumours that Rod and Pat await contracts from Barney and Bailey are greatly exaggerated. Two more strike offs from their bucket list.

Greetings from Thailand where it is hot and sunny under the palm trees. Holiday still going well. rented a Honda scooter and Pat and I rode down to the National Park at the bottom of the island. came round the corner on the way back and met an elephant lumbering along with his keeper.
Tenth runner Alex Lau came to the Centre 20 minutes late. Alex ran solo to Como Lake via Noel Drive, Como Lake Road east into the lake, ran a lap, then returned to the Centre via Gatensby, west on Winslow to Blue Mountain Road to Foster, then west to North Road continuing to the Centre. His distance and time, 9.1, 1:17. Debra Colvin 2:22;07
This one said he wouldn’t mind being a Cruiser, but wasn’t sure about the cold. He’s got his trunk wrapped around my waist.
the water tables). Libby remains calm, carries on, and is researching for a remedy, be it, perhaps, vulcanizing by Michelin or Goodyear. Thanks to Terri-Lee for advising her fellow Cruisers Wednesday of Libby’s malady.
Eight Cruisers met at and ran or walked from Rocky Point on a zero C degree and bright morning Saturday. Edie with canine April opted for a short walk only; the remaining seven opted to run and formed into a three groups, with Flora, Rod and Sherian running to April Road before returning, with Rod in the vanguard since he had to be home by 10 am; Larry and Rick running to the pearly gates (the Ioco Terminal) gates at a faster rate than Alex and Bobtoc, both combining running, jogging and some walking, also to said pearly gates. Times for the groups no known except for Alex and Bobtoc who did distance in, let us say sub 3, including pit stops and reading of signs along the route. Alex is suffering from wonky knees and Bobtoc, well, adjusting to the new and present reality. Distance to Ioco gates and return, 12 km. Distance to April Road and return, 10 km. Times for the other groups unknown but suffice it to say plenty of time was taken by most to examine and comment on the ongoing construction on Alderside of new houses and renovations of others. No suitable places for use for the Cruisers clubhouse; not enough bedrooms, bathrooms or parking.
