July 31

This week’s reports are from Edie – many thanks Edie for keeping track of things.

On Wednesday evening Brenda, Glenn, Judith, René, Eoin, Laura and Edie walked around Keswick Park, where Eoin and Laura turned back having done 30 minutes, and the others carried on down to Government, along the Stoney Creek-Eastlake trail to Cameron and back. We did 4 km in about 1h10.
It was warmish!

On Monday evening there was a big turnout ! Ten of us went to Stoney Creek trail via Cameron. Brenda and René reached the North Road gate and continued on Jim’s Jungle trail to the trail leading to Chapman and returned by North Road for 6.5 km, Flora did part of that trail before returning on her own, Liane, Brigitte, Glenn, and Rod walked to the gate and returned covering 5.5 km while Lorraine, new person Sangeeta, and Edie walked 4.68 km turning around with group 2 and all of that group returned via Salish Court.

Edie ran into a person she worked with 50 + years ago at RBC so had a quick catch up! They still recognized each other. It was a nice temperature to walk, water is low in the creek, and the blackberry bushes are getting thick. Seven chatted at the mall before going home.

July 1st – Happy Canada Day!

On Wednesday morning, it was Canada Day, as Flora, Liane, Kevin and Edie took the skytrain to the New West quay.

We walked west to the end and then walked back to the middle where we took the ferry to Port Royal – a five minute trip. We did a loop around the lovely neighbourhood there, took the ferry back and then had gelato at the quay. After that we walked east to the other end of the quay and then took the skytrain back to Lougheed. Kevin waited for us on the bench at times.

It was a nice day and a good day for a 7.5 km walk in about 3 hours.

Thanks to Edie for her report!
